Planting bulbs in fall


If you want a beautiful garden all year economical cost, then you have to do proper planning. Of course we can wait for spring and get closer to a garden center to take advantage of seasonal plants that you will find, but you'll get more interesting results if you have done our economic tasks ahead.

1. Starts planting bulbs from October that bloom in spring, creating bursts of color and beauty. Tulips, crocus, daffodils and hyacinths in our plantations interspersed standard will give you very little work to perform during the winter and you will rejoice when the summer starts again.
2. When purchasing bulbs, be sure that they do not seem to store under the sun or have wounds or fungi.
3. When you organize plantations in mind you must into account that its flowering cycle is short, so its extensions will be for short duration and spread over plants to different areas and interspersed with perennials.
4. Plant the bulbs with the proper clearance for its development, at a depth of 2 or 3 times its size with the bottom in contact with the bottom of the hole. The land will be developed which must be loose and well-drained, not to over tighten the ground when we fill the gap. If the number of bulbs is important is advisable to use a bulb planter, which facilitates the task.
5. The worst time of year will be exposed to cold, rain and possibly frost. These plants require a low temperature during part of their cycle but not over-padded field with straw or bark if frost is strong.
6. Once flowering has finished remove the spent flowers but the green parts should be dried without being separated from the bulb. Thus the plant absorbed nutrients and accumulates, increasing the final size of the bulb.
7. Finish this process as you can withdraw your bulbs and store in a cool, dry place until next fall.
