Coleus, a Beautiful Houseplant

One plant which can spread beauty through ones home or flat is the Coleus, the most well liked, known as Coleus Hybridus ( painted nettle ). A far more colourful Coleus plant, simply called'Rainbow Mixed Colors' on the seed package is matchless in color divergences. Easy to keep alive thru even lenghty unattendance and simple propagation methodologies, it can bring much joy to the plant fan. Due to the high level of regeneration of the Coleus plant, you might simply propagate a single nursery purchased plant or one started from seed into one or two fully new plants. It's straightforward ! Once the plant has ripened to an attractive foliage, cuttings can then be taken. Begin cutting close to the bottom.

Trim each to about 6' in length, then trimming four to six of the lower leaves. Place cuttings in a jar or glass, about 0.33 stuffed with easy tap water. A few plant cuttings can be placed in the same jar, but the water level will need to be monitored closer. The Coleus gets pretty parched and could drain your plants water supply in an exceedingly brief time.

Store in a low-level lighted area for a couple of days, or until roots are produced at the base of the cuttings. Wait till new roots have produced at least six and the longest have reached about 1'. At this juncture, one must be a little more discriminating, at least in selecting the sort of growing media in which our new botanical jewels will spend their maturing lives. First, one can simply find soil which will grow our new cuttings and keep them in their most healthy state through their adult lives and produce the brightest of color differentiations in their ever-changing leaf patterns.

The soil may hold the best quantity of organic material as feasible together with self contained nutriments in the organic growing material. We should choose a growing pot which would accommodate a progressive growing stage, so we could doubtless start with a 4' wide pot, since this is mostly the size that would hold our cuttings which are by this time well rooted. Every individual plant should have sufficient room to stay in this size pot for roughly two months. This should last for the remainder of its natural life...but now the method can be started all over again and you'll have a place full of the stunning Coleus plant.
